Two non-releasable Easetern Screech Owls, one red phase and one grey phase and each blind in one eye, took flight for the Oklahoma City Zoo today! As you can see in the first two photos, they were wondering why they were being disturbed in their typically quiet pen at 4:30 a.m.! Then, once in the carrier, they were not too happy! But as they checked into the Fort Wayne International Airport for their Delta Dash flight to Oklahoma City, they were quiet and relaxed.
Screeches typically adapt quickly and we are sure they will love their new home. After a time in quarantine, they will be able to stay together as part of a nocturnal exhibit. We will try to post photos of them in their new home after their month long quarantine at the Oklahoma City Zoo!
We love partnering with qualified organizations to find homes for our non-releasable birds.
