UPDATE: 6/12/23 Humanely euthanized due to fracture of the right knee.

SH received a call this morning about a barred owl laying in the yard of a Silver Lake, IN farm. The bird had been down since 6:30 am June 5th. I arrived at the site around 9:30 am and quickly moved the adult owl to the transport box and headed for SH. The bird was found to be underweight and unable to stand. It was left in a cage to await evaluation by the triage team.
Triage determined the owl was suffering from dehydration and possible spinal issues.
